The Horizon Europe project HARPOONERS, in which FMV participates as a partner and which is led by Tecnalia, was recently presented at the workshop “CINEA Feedback to Policy – Energy Transition of the Fisheries Sector & Maritime Decarbonisation: A cross-programs and policies dialogue”.
This high-level European meeting is aimed at sharing progress, experiences, and needs related to the energy transition of the maritime–fisheries sector.
The event, promoted by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), brought together representatives from European institutions, national administrations, technology centres, industry, and innovative ppresentarojects, with the objective of strengthening interactions between funding programmes and supporting the definition of future policies for maritime decarbonisation.
During the session, the HARPOONERS project presented its contribution to the sector’s energy transition through technological and operational solutions designed to reduce emissions, improve energy efficiency, and accelerate the adoption of more sustainable systems in maritime fleets and operations. The presentation highlighted the collaborative nature of the project, as well as its alignment with the European objectives on climate neutrality and the modernisation of the fisheries sector.

The workshop provided an opportunity to showcase the initial achievements of HARPOONERS and to reinforce its position within the European maritime innovation ecosystem. It created a constructive dialogue with public authorities, funding bodies, and other projects working in complementary areas. It also helped identify synergies and collaboration opportunities that will contribute to maximising the project’s impact during its development and deployment phases.
Participation in this event represents a significant step in strengthening HARPOONERS’ European visibility and confirms its role as a reference initiative in the decarbonisation of the maritime and fisheries sector, delivering real solutions for a fair, efficient, and technologically advanced energy transition.
